The Sunshine Blogger Award

Hi everyone!

I am freaking out a little bit right now because I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I honestly can’t believe it – I only launched this blog in August, so I’m actually so stoked that I’ve made a great impression in such a short space of time.

So, what is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The ultimate goal of the Sunshine Blogger Award is to highlight bloggers who are creative, positive, and inspiring. Essentially, it is a way to spread sunshine to through the blogging community by showcasing awesome blogs.

I personally love the idea of having a people nomination based award because there’s an overwhelming feeling of being valued by people in the same community as you, don’t you agree?

Who Nominated Me?

I’d like to thank The Good The Human for nominating me!

If you haven’t already, you should definitely check her blog out; it’s centered around mental health and well-being, which is integral to all us humans out there. Just like Happily Amber After, her blog is relatively new, so show her a bit of love and have a little squiz – you won’t be disappointed!

The Rules of Nomination

So, along with the nomination, there are some rules (but really, they are criterion) that need to be met in order to fulfill the requirements of nomination. These are:

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in the blog post and link back to their awesome blog.
  • Answer 11 questions the blogger have come up with especially for you.
  • Nominate 11 fantastic blogs to receive the award and pose 11 new questions for them to answer.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Pretty simple, huh? So are we ready to dive in to the Q & A? Yes, I think so!

Questions and Answers Time!

1. What made you want to start a Blog?

Blogging is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time… but I just didn’t have the courage to do it. I actually wrote a whole post on why I began my blogging journey and you can find it here.

2. What’s your main philosophy in life? When did you first recognize this philosophy and put it into effect?

I haven’t really thought about this, but I think it’s something that’s stuck with me for a while and has helped me throughout the years to deal with rejection is this:

The worst thing that can to happen is that they are going to say ‘no’.

The first time I put this into effect was when I applied for a traineeship. I was looking at the job application and freaked out when I saw the criteria. I really wanted to apply, but was scared of being rejected. But then I thought, “is my whole world going to crumble if I don’t get accepted? I mean, it’s not like they are going to chase me up if I have a bad application and chop my hand off (I know – totally dramatic lol). No. The worst thing that will happen is that they will say no.” So basically, this is what I have in the back of my mind when I doubt my confidence and the faith I have in myself.

I am quite ambitious, so this has served me extremely well in my workspace, and to an extent, in life. I am mindful that it can be quite confronting to some people live by this, so I totally respect any opposing opinions around it

3. In the future where do you hope your blog will take you?

It would be awesome to be a full time blogger, ultimately turning my blog into a resource for teenagers. I would hope that this could compliment the book I’d love to write, using diary entries from my blog to give depth to the plot.

4. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?

I am definitely an introvert. I like my ‘me’ time. However, I also identify as an ambivert.

5. When/if you do go out to socialize, what things do you enjoy doing?

A lot of people have told me that I’m a ‘foodie’. Now, I personally don’t actually think that, but the amount of exploring I do in Perth always seems to revolve around food. Breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners out and about with friends are centered around food…  Lol.

6. Is what you’re doing now what you always wanted to do growing up? If not, then what did you always dream of doing as a child?

This is an interesting question to answer actually. It’s yes and no. Yes, my dream has always been to be a writer and I am totally doing that in regards to telling a story on my blog, but also no because it’s not in the form that I ultimately always wanted it to be in. It might be someday (and would make me the happiest person on earth!), but I am really happy blogging and keeping the anticipation going.

7. What is the best way to cheer you up on a bad day?

Hot chocolate. All the way. Seriously, anything sugar related will always bring a smile to my dial.

8. What’s an ideal weekend for you?

I am a couch potato – I wouldn’t leave it if I had the choice. So, an ideal weekend would be to stay at home in my PJ’s all day watching movie classics and writing new diary entries to post.

9 & 10. Who has impacted you most in blogging and how?

This question was actually asked two times, so I figured I’d just combine them together. I don’t think I could narrow it down to just one person, because it’s YOU, my readers, that has impacted me the most in blogging! Your support really motivates me to keep on going and reach that end goal. For me, blogging is not about how many people I can get to my blog, it’s about knowing that my audience enjoys the content that I’m putting out there. So, I just want to say thankyou to you for inspiring me to persevere and keeping me motivated to follow my dream!

11. What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?

There’s only so many hours in the day, and having a full time job significantly impacts on my ability to dedicate quality time to my blog. I get super frustrated when all I want to do is write because I’ve been hit with the inspiration bug, but I’m stuck at work, dying inside. Can anyone relate?
